Ciudad de Mexico: Day 1

Mexico within its own country is irrevocably diverse in everything you can think of. From food to clothes, to music, to even language. To understand this, especially for Tierra, we have to visit these different regions. When arriving into Mexico City we immediately saw that CDMX has a completely different pulse of its own. A city where traditional meets modern.

Knowing so we were excited to start the day, somewhere different for Tierra. We normally visit smaller towns and particularly those of which the artisans come from. But we really wanted to get to know Mexico in every shape and form. When we arrived we found our place in the barrio Condesa, a hip but affordable location in CDMX, we left our bags and made way to eat some amazing molcajetes and tacos.

Once energized and refueled we visited the Frida Kahlo Museum. We spent the majority of our afternoon there taking photos and learning about an iconic couple in Mexico’s artistic history. Soon after we made our way to have cafe at Cafe Avellaneda located in the Couyucan district. We relaxed and sipped on our cafe de la tarde.

Later in the evening we ended with Memelas a cuisine from the state of Oaxaca at Cocina Mezcalera. Amazing food paired with a fantastic habanero salsa.

We decided to take it easy on day one, but with much excitement we are eager to explore much more of the city in these next couple of days. Tierra is expanding, we love that our store brings Mexico to you, but we want you to come with us too! Eat, see and do with us on this visit!
