Day 4 in Merida

Day four in Merida, Yucatán

Our last day in Merida has arrived and we took advantage of visiting our family friend “Hermana Ana”. She catered us with her delicious and authentic Yucatec lunch. We left with our hearts and stomachs full. After leaving we grabbed a quick coffee from our new favorite café called Placer & Delirio for a caffeine boost before our meeting with our artisan Rossana. Rossana and her husband Joaquin provide us with tediously crafted leather and macramé bracelets for Tierra. We have worked with this couple for 6 months now and we were so excited to meet with her and explore more on how we can maintain and continue to grow this partnership. After our meeting with Rossana we then met with Mario. Mario is the artisan who provides us with Bordados, Jirafas, and Rebozos. Mario and his familia Santiz have been working diligently bringing in creativity and color to Tierra. As hard as Mario works we are always more than happy to partner with him and his family. Finally, we meet with Herbert, our Huichol artisan. Herbert was the first artisan we connected with and have been absolutely grateful for meeting him and his passionate team. Huichol art is something that can only be done by artistic and dedicated individuals like Herbert. The growing relationship between Herbert and Tierra only reminds us of why we love to do what we do. Meeting with the artisans is a vital component to Tierra, our relationship with them is more than just work, it’s a representation of the admiration and relationship we have with Mexico. Salud y Paz Merida! Muchisimas gracias por todo.
